A strange set of coincidences

So, I came up with my book title Galactic Odyssey back in 1997ish, and specified the title Escape from Tykonia soon after. Other titles came soon after, but it was still known as the Galactic Odyssey series.

Last year I Google searched the title and found the book above published in 1967. I read the synopsis on Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galactic_Odyssey) and found my story not related to it all. After I published book two, Rise of the New Rebellion, I ordered a copy of the 1967 version off eBay. I started reading it recently and I'm already half way through and found some eerie similarities:

  1. Obviously, we have similar titles: Galactic Odyssey
  2. His main character is a human millions of light years from Earth lost in the farthest reaches of the galaxy. My main character is lost alone in another galaxy.
  3. In his book, there is a semi-sarcastic character named Sir Orfeo. My story has a very sarcastic Seeper named Orfeon.
  4. The main character in his book befriends a large cat-like creature that protects him and fights fiercely when mad. My main character rescues and befriends a little bear-like creature that protects the hero and... well you don't want to get Viter mad.
  5. The original title of his book was Spaceman. In my 3rd book, many aliens call my hero Spaceman.
  6. And the craziest... my main character gets shot in, and loses, his right eye in book one and spends the rest of the book as a space pirate. In HIS book, the main character gives his right eye as payment to rescue some of his crew.
So, some strange coincidences. I've never read the book until now, and it is pretty good. The interesting fact is that I am half way through it and already 6 years have passed in the plot of the book.
Who knows what else I'll find as I try and finish it.
