Weekend saved

I am very happy to have friends in the area. Big thanks to Michael and Desire Lang for coming over to pick me up to run out to get a few groceries. I figured my weekend was going to be full of staying at home mostly and watching Sopranos.

Then I get a call from the manager of the PA Enterprise Car Rental. He has apparently listened to my ranting messages on his voice mail and asks if I still need a car to rent. I say yes. He says that he will run into the office, get the car and then come get me. When he finally picks me up 20 mins later, he asks how I'm doing. I say fine, but wondering what the hell happened yesterday. He talks and looks like a guilty puppy as he apologizes for the mix up and says he isn't sure what happened. They have been having issues with their phone messaging service and that could have lead to the mix up of not returning my call for a pick up request. I ask about the fact that I called the day before to confirm, didn't they wonder why I didn't show up or call? His response was that he was not sure why they didn't clue in to call, but he is deeply sorry and that Enterprise will make it up to me. I am mad still, but I can tell he feels like shit because this is the second time he has screwed up my rental.

The first time was in March or April when Ali went away with the girls and I got dropped off to get my car... but there was no car for me. The one I was supposed to get had been damaged in a fender bender. He drove me back to work and picked me up after with a new car from Saskatoon. He only charged me $14 a day for that inconvenience. I was wonder what this deal would be.

When we get to the office I go in to sign the papers. As he's printing out the form, he tells me that he won't charge me for the car rental until Saturday, he only asks I bring it back with a full tank of gas. If I use all the gas, it'll cost me $60, tops. Since I plan to only drive around PA, that should be less. We take a walk around the car, he hands me the keys, apologizes again, then wishes me a happy Canada Day and a good rest of the week.

Hard to stay mad with customer service like that. Enterprise is the only car rental place in PA with a nice variety of cars to choose from. (Sure, there's AVIS, but the only carry a limited number). I have been at issue with them twice and they have recovered my faith in them well. The manager took the time out of his weekend to come in, get me a nice car (2013 Ford Focus - I know it's a Ford, but who am I to complain when it's free), and then not charge me anything for the week long rental. I can now come and go as I please.

Will I still rent from Enterprise in the future? Yes. If you can make me a very happy customer, I can over look the mistakes. But so help me, if I rent a third time and there is a major issue... all bets are off.

Have a Great Weekend all!
