I have become a lazy ass. I have little energy to do much but watch TV and NOT COUGH. I guess it all stems from the little nutrition I am taking in. Anisha and Samantha woke me up at 8am to watch TV. I did and stayed down here in the basement all day, so far. After last night's pain awakening, I did powernap until the girls arrived.
Had some scrambled eggs for breakfast and KD for lunch. When I don't eat, like now, my throat actually feels pretty good. I have not taken any Hydromorphone since last night, only Extra Strength Tylenol. However, once the food goes down, or I cough, watch out: Searing pain.
It feels like there is something at the back of my throat that I want to swallow or something... ironic since I had two pieces of tissue removed. So, this part of the recovery isn't bad. I don't want to jinx it if the worst is yet to come when the scabs fall off and then I will be in pain. I still get fatigued easily. Anisha almost spilled something at lunch today, and I forgot to pace my throat and yelled at her to watch out. That pain sucked! Not as bad as hitting a coughing fit.
I guess all those adult tonsillectomy sites were right, and so was my doctor: everyone's recovery is unique. Some are STILL in excruciating pain, some are ready to go back to work. I have one more week at home for sure, then it is back to work... unless my throat has other plans. Hard to believe that some people had issues for over 20 days. I wonder what they did wrong or what went wrong? I guess they are the 1-4% of the population that suffers after the surgery. I am very thankful for the recovery I am having. It could be MUCH worse, but I don't recommend this pain for anyone.
Happy Easter Monday Everyone!
