Day 9 of Tonsillectomy recovery... illness?

So, I had a cough filled night, but I woke up pretty well rested. After dropping the family off at work and daycare, I came home and ate some noodles which went down very nicely. I then finished watching Gandhi (excellent movie by the way), and had KD for lunch, which went down nicely as well. I was feeling like I just had a sore throat. I did some running around then went for my Post Op with the family doctor.

She came in and took one look at my throat and said (almost like George Takai): "Oh My!" I asked her if I had the dreaded two words I hate to hear (Strep and Throat). She said no, but the back of my throat was swollen with some discharge. She asked if I had been sick before the surgery, and I said that I had had a cold and cough. She said that was probably it then: some of the illness lingered and made it a bit harder to finish the recovery. She prescribed me Amoxo-clavulin (my old friend) and some T3s to handle the pain (which I don't think I need hydromorphone level strength to deal with anymore). While I got those filled, I got me a cool mint flavoured chloroseptic spray which is amazing on my sore throat.

I had more soup for supper and a bit of a bun which I could swallow with limited pain. Now I think the illness is just funking up my recovery a bit and allowing me not to swallow nicely, but not as much as it did earlier in the week. With these new meds, I should be ok in a few days, I think. I may even try eating some more solid type foods by the end of the weekend.

My energy and spirits are up, but I know I am not out of the woods yet. I have to do a follow up next week with the family doctor to see how these present antibiotics are working. So, a good news/bad news kind of day. Talk to you all tomorrow!

Here is a fun pic I found online today:
