I felt better but had some cabin fever from being in the hospital with not much to do. I soon finished reading books and watching some DVDs, but then discovered I could catch up on 24 easily. Late Sunday night it was told to me what the infection was and that the doctor had been planning on sending me home that day but got from me that I wanted to stay. Huh?
Monday came with a new doc who was pretty determined I would stay in all week but I soon began aggressively advocating my case to deal with what I have at home. He finally agreed and allowed me to be discharged. I went home on Monday and tried to salvage ANYTHING of the long weekend. In short, I slept a bit and watched TV. Lame.
I am feeling much better being at home now. My infection is down, so is the swelling, but it is far from over. I was told I wasn't going to be working the rest of the week. I will be speaking to my family doc about it this afternoon.
I have officially been labelled a type 2 diabetic, and while I know that is the important part of my treatment now, I can't help feel they focused more on that than the infection, which was in a pretty sensitive area. I mean, one of the first questions I was asked when I got into the hospital on Friday was: "Are you and your wife planning on having any more children?" That is a pretty fucking loaded question that I don't take too lightly. And it should tell you where the issue is. Sure, we have the infection at bay with good meds, but it is still swollen in that area so I am still worried about that.
I shall now begin to take care of myself more with my eating habits. It won't be easy, but I think I have lots of support to do it.
