So as many of you might know, Samantha was born with only one kidney. Once found, we were told that UTIs will be a problem with her. In October of 2010, she got one and was hospitalized. She recovered well with no other incidents.
We were also told she had Kidney reflux, that can lead to UTIs. It was a stage 2 or 3 at birth, became a stage 4 and has stayed there, not getting better, but not getting worse.
Today she went in for surgery to fix her ureter at her bladder and help fix this reflux. We were worried that she would kick up a fuss, but she was a great trooper! She easily went into the OR with the nurse at 1pm, then the doctor came out around 3 to say she was done and doing well.
Around 3:45, Ali was able to go into recovery and see her. They moved her up to Pediatrics at 4:20. Once the hullaballoo was all done, she went for a nap.
We are very thankful to God and everyone who prayed for her. The plan is to have her catheter out on Sunday and, if she pees well, can come home Sunday night.
Fingers crossed.
